New Studio – continued

Mid August and the work on the new studio continued. The roof is on and the exterior is getting wrapped to prepare for the installation of the windows. We found fabulous windows at the Rebuilding Center in Portland for a fraction of what they would cost from a retail window company. And they were brand new, never been used!

Apart from the studio, in August I participated in our local Vancouver Art and Music Festival . I was one of the artists representing a local group I belong to – NOPG or Northwest Oil Painter’s Guild. And what a successful weekend it was for me! Four paintings went home with happy collectors!

Here is the studio in progress with the builder, my husband Jim.

The New Studio

September 21, 2024

For a long time I have been fortunate to have a dedicated studio space in my home. For the last ten years it has been a quite spacious room in the lower level of our house. The deficiency for me has been the access to natural light. It has one north facing window and I supplement the light with various lamps and overhead lighting that has never been more than just okay.

So this summer my husband proposed that he build me a new studio in our backyard. I was hesitant at first because the best site would be where part of my veggie patch was located. But the idea sounded wonderful so the project began.  I dug up tomato plants, squash plants, pepper plants and asparagus, expecting that nothing would survive the shock of being relocated, some into pots. Surprise! All survived and thrived.

So the ground was broken and before long walls were going up. Here it is.
